Wednesday Colour Splash

Hello there! :-)  Welcome to "Wednesday Colour Splash"!

What is Wednesday Colour Splash?

Wednesday Colour Splash is my weekly post on 10 colourful things that caught my eye and inspired me in one way or another.  I love things that are vibrantly adorned with colours.  I love the way they make a great impact and impression on anything and everything that it touches.  I am simply impressed with how a splash of colour can either make or break something something so blah...

And so, because I am so in love with colour, let me share my musings with you! Enjoy! :-)

I would love to have a living room that is similar to this.  The colourful striped trim on the wall just looks so inviting and it definitely gives the room a feeling of excitement and joy! The mixing of different furnitures added an extra "edge" to the look.

I don't know what's so special about garlands but they are just so lovely to look at.  They make everything seem so festive with a home-y touch to it.

Colour overdose! That is all I can say.  I love it!  If I have my own room, it would resemble the one above.  Too bad I'm sharing the room with my sister so I can't have it "coloured" the way I want it to be...

Tassles that turn a plain wall from blah to oooohlala! <3

Pretty flowers! It really makes a difference to be looking at something so lovely and fresh like these flowers.  I think it just gives out a positive vibe and a touch of cheerfulness!  Imagine having a bad day at work and then going home to be greeted by a bouquet of these pretty flowers... I bet it would make you smile. I know I would. :-)

I seem to think that sitting on this bench would give me a bit of energy boost.  I could just imagine myself sitting on one of these at a park while reading a book, or sketching or just having  sweet conversations with my one and only Glenn. We should have more of these benches!  It would make a difference. <3

To be honest with you, I could look at this artwork all day and not be bored.  Its simple and complicated at the same time.   The mix of colours remind me of summer fun!

Eenie meenie miney moe.  I cannot choose one.  Every chair just looks so fabulous and so retro!

Canister dresses!  What an inspired idea!  It just dresses up dull holders.  :-)  These ones look like they are ready for winter! Haha! :-)

I might want to consider adding a hint of blue when I'm doing my make up.  It looks so modern and edgy!  I think I would wear blue eye shadow tomorrow!  I just hope it would look good on me. :-)

Hope you had a taste of eye candy because I sure did!!! 'Till next week :-)

Oh So Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving! :-)

I am fully aware that Thanksgiving Day was 2 weeks ago, but I will never pass the opportunity to write this post basically because I want to share with everybody the things that I am very thankful for this 2010.
Back home, we do not have this holiday.  Don't get us Filipinos wrong, we are very thankful for everything and all that but we just don't have a Thanksgiving Day wherein we prepare a very festive dinner with turkey as the "main course".  I guess its just that we are aware of the blessings that have been given to us, thank God for it, and just do our daily thing.  So basically, everyday is a thanksgiving day for us, if I say so myself, minus the turkey dinner of course. :-)

I have been in Canada for two and a half years (we arrived here in Canada on April 18, 2009) and this is my 3rd year of celebrating this holiday. I would have to say that this year's thanksgiving was kind of different and extra special from the first two.  Here is the list of what I have been thankful for :
  • Another year of life.
  • Being able to move out and have our own home sweet home.
  • Daddy's recovery
  • Meeting my other half, my soulmate, the love of my life : Glenn <3
  • Friends and family
  • Stable and abundant life of my brothers and relatives back home
  • Princess Chelsea Kimberly - an addition to our happy family
  • My full time job
  • A very happy life
  • Starting to pursue what I have always loved doing - arts, crafts and design
  • All the little blessings here and there
Glenn's family and my family celebrated Thanksgiving Day together. :-)  I got really excited and so I even prepared "personalized" cups for everyone.  Its just looks so cute and adorable!  Plus, I  wanted to do something different for this year since this was the first time that we are celebrating it in our new humble abode <3 and also because its our (Glenn and I) first thanksgiving together!
We had so much food!  Because it was thanksgiving, roast turkey with stuffing was the "main event".  We also had mashed potatoes, roast pork with mushroom and cream sauce, meatloaf and greek salad.  For dessert, I made carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (and cute happy thanksgiving toppers <3 ) and new york cheesecake while his dad baked banana cake. Yum!  It was a very hearty dinner prepared with so much love!

It was a night filled with so much food, music, laughter and love.  Everybody enjoyed it.  :-)  It was, I would say, a Thanksgiving Extravaganza!!!

My cute little cupcakes with cream cheese frosting! :-)  Don't they look so adorable with those home made toppers?  This was my first time of "frosting" a cupcake so I apologize if it looks kind of imperfect, but then again, I love the way that it looked perfectly imperfect! :-)

My sister is always the one in charge of carving the turkey.  If I was put in charge of that task, I think everybody will know what will happen with the turkey -- I will be eating already as I am carving it. hahaha *wink*

I believe they loved my cuppycakes! <3
*smooch*
Glenn's sister, Florence and boyfriend Leon arrived late.  But at least they were still able to celebrate thanksgiving with us!
My parents and his parents + a lot of conversations about almost anything and everything.  I just love seeing them so happy and I am very thankful that they get along so well. :-)
Cheers to our first thanksgiving together <3
Princess Sassy was also there to celebrate with us. Oh so cute!

I know that each and everyday, we receive a lot of blessings.  It does not really matter whether it's a little thing like catching the bus on time or finding a $10 bill while walking on the street or it could also be a big thing like getting a huge raise at work or finding that right person for you.  Bottom line is, we should always be thankful for everything that has been given to us.  We should know how to appreciate what has been given and in turn, try to give more.  It does not necessarily mean that we give material things; it could be a simple smile, saying thank you, helping a friend in need, give a little more love, and so on... These little things add up and make a very positive impact on other people's lives.  Without us knowing it, people are thankful for everything that we have been doing for them. :-)

Truly, God has blessed me abundantly this year and I am hoping that He will continue to shower me with even more in the years to come.  :-)  I am very thankful for my happy life and for my family and friends that surround me.

How about you, what are you thankful for?  I would love to read about them. :-)

Love Cookie

Recently, my glenn was not feeling very well and because of this, he was not able to go to work for 2 days.  He might have put too much pressure on his shoulders and arms while at work that's why whenever he moved them, he was just in pain.  I felt so bad knowing that he was having a hard time moving.  And what's worse is that every time he moved, he grunts and moans in pain. :-(  Poor baby.
And so, I wanted to make something for him to somehow make him feel better.  Since I could not just absent myself from work, (I should have filed for a day off :-( ), I made him choco chip walnut shortbread cookies! <3 Not only did I bake these sweet goodies with so much love, but also I made one giant cookie in the shape of a heart. Can it get any sweeter than that?
When he picked me up from work, I felt so happy!  I just missed  him too much!  I just want to be with him and take care of him and make sure that he was feeling so much better.
He ate the cookies that I have made and said that they were delish.  Secretly, I think he got better because of those cookies and also because I was with him. :-) *wink*
How about you, what is your best remedy for the one you love whenever they are not feeling well?  I would like to know about them. :-)

Rewind... Dinner with Friends & Nuit Blanche

Okay.  So this post was supposed to be for two weeks ago.  But it doesn't really matter that it's a late post, I just really want to share it with everybody. :-) It's better late than never, right?

Anyway, so here goes.

That was a Saturday and as you all know, my Glenn also works on some Saturdays.  This Saturday was one of those supposedly "mellow-afternoons-because-the-night-is-going-to-be-crazy".  As usual, I picked him up from work that day ( I do not drive, so I went by bus. haha. :-)  He just always feels so happy whenever I pick him up from work.  And I, myself, am very happy to be doing that. After a long day's work, the one thing I want the most is to see my one and only love right after I punch out from the office. )  As I remember it, I arrived at Mcdonald's half an hour early so I had the time to stroll around while waiting for him.
Oh so adorable.  While I was waiting for Glenn, this pup was waiting for someone too. :-)
I got him his usual "after-work-breakfast-on-Saturday" which was the sausage and egg mcmuffin and instead of a large coke, I got him a steeped tea instead because his throat was feeling kind of itchy.  I did not want him to be sick because we had plans for that night: 1. We were going to have dinner with friends: his sister + boyfriend Leon, my sister + boyfriend Ricky, Kyna + Ikki.  2.  We planned on going to the Nuit Blanche.
So we headed straight to his place because his mom scheduled a cenacle prayer meeting.  Just when we thought food was already prepared, we came home to an empty house.  Apparently, his mom and dad and sister all went to the doctor and would be back like after an hour.  We were both hungry so we just cooked our lunch.  He prepared sardines with tomato sauce while I was in charge of the fried rice! It was a very simple home cooked meal but of course, I wanted to make it extra special.  I made it look kind of fancy!  I would have put 2 candles on the table to make our lunch a bit romantic, but then we were so hungry and we just wanted to eat right away! :-)
I was left with his sister because he had to fix the car with his dad.  His sister was using the curling iron and since I was not doing anything that time, I did my hair too.  It has been a few months already since the last time that I curled my hair and because we were having dinner with our friends, I might as well "dress up" a bit.  It took me forever to finish my waves because my hair was just too straight.  No matter  how much mousse I put in im hair, it just did not want to cooperate with the curling iron.  Ugggh.  I was getting a little frustrated until I finally asked his sister's help.  The last resort was to put hair spray to hold the curls in place.  Thank goodness, my hair was done.  :-)  It was time for make up.  Although I don't usually wear a lot of make up, that Saturday night was an exception because first of all, I spent so much time on my hair, why not doll up and look prettier? :-)  It wasn't really that heavy made up look though.  It's just eyeliner, mascarra, blush, a little eye shadow and lip gloss. I was feeling so pretty and all t hat until I realized that I was just wearing jeans and rubber shoes. Wow.  Oh well, I didn't care because I looked pretty. :-)

We had dinner at Mandarin.  Oh boy.  It was packed with people and we had to wait for an hour just to be seated.  Oh my goodness.  I was not really that hungry at that time so I didn't mind waiting.  Me and Glenn were just playing with each other and saying sweet nothings and time flew by so quickly.  It was time for us to get in and have dinner.  We had rounds of going back and forth to the buffet tables and my oh my, we ate so much.  Even though it was not our first time to eat there, its like we were still overwhelmed by all the different kinds of food and of course, its so much fun to eat while having conversations with friends.  I think we stayed there for around 2 hours. Money well spent on that dinner! Hahaha! :-)  Another thing was the unlimited crab legs! yum yum yum! Just writing about it makes me want to eat at Mandarin some time this month again!
After dinner, Glenn and I went to see the Nuit Blanche downtown.  I have been in Canada for more than 2 years but I have never been to this event.  Nuit Blanche is an even wherein for one sleepless night Toronto was transformed by hundreds of artists for the city's sixth annual sunset-to-sunrise celebration of contemporary art.   Because roads are closed within the zones of the Nuit Blanche, we had to park at Bloor and just walk all the way.  We didn't mind walking for so long since we just had a very hearty and heavy dinner, but the only thing that was kind of bothering was that it was just too cold!  I was not wearing the proper jacket so Glenn forced me to wear her mom's coat over my jacket.  He was like, "No coat, no Nuit Blanche". Hahaha. :-)  So of course, I had no choice but to wear it.  But it was a good thing that I did listen to him because it was just toooo cold.  We walked around and experienced the art till about midnight.  AFter that, we just went home.  We were exhausted from walking and we just started to feel sleepy.  I didn't mind that we didn't get to see everything that Nuit Blanche had to offer.  I was just glad that finally I was able to experience it and most of all, be with my Glenn.

That Saturday was packed with memories. :-)  I just loved every single moment.
